My Approach to Your Concerns:

I draw from years of diverse experience integrated with various psychological theories about how people can find meaning, satisfaction, and joy in life.

Working together, our goal is to fine-tune the balance between acceptance and change and discover new ways of being with yourself and/or with your partner. Stress, chronic pain, family situations, traumatic events, unresolved childhood history, emotional instability … all can be barriers to “living a life worth living.”

Our work together can empower you to take control of how your life unfolds instead of being a victim of circumstances. I look forward to participating in your progress.

Therapeutic Style:

I endeavor to make available to each client my best self, unencumbered by judgments about attitudes or behaviors, or my performance or success as a psychologist. As the client is naturally drawn by this authentic, unconditional openness and vulnerability he or she connects deeply to all aspects of Self. We discover that we have entered a sacred space where each resonates with the other and a deeper level of trust, connection, and meaning are evoked.

When the client establishes a perspective of a stable, authentic Self, his/her concerns are clarified and needs are identified. Physiological, cognitive, emotional, and behavioral components move towards integration. The process is invigorating. As a consequence of this work, new neural connections in the brain are formed. Strengthened with repeated use, new ways of sensing, feeling, thinking and behaving emerge and become habitual.

The Bigger Picture:

Many of the difficulties we encounter in our daily lives become more manageable if we learn to stand back and see the bigger picture. Emotions such as sadness, anger, anxiety, shame, loneliness, fear, and emotional pain no longer take control. Acceptance of circumstances which we cannot change robs them of their power, while learning the skills to change ourselves empowers us.

The decision-making part of our brains comes online to assert control when emotions become manageable, giving us behavioral options and access to inner wisdom and resilience. We gain a greater sense of personal agency, confidence, perspective, more focus on life goals, self-compassion, benevolence towards others, and the strengthening of hope and meaning. Our lives become energized.
